Korum Lincoln in Puyallup is hiring a Human Resource Generalist to support our Dealerships!

The Human Resource Generalist has the primary responsibility for processing payroll and benefits administration. Provides quality support services to employees and managers seeking assistance from the Human Resource Department on personnel, compensation, and benefit matters. Participates in coordinating and monitoring employee leave of absence, and supports the recruitment and hiring process. Coordinates the company’s new employee orientation, and assists with various functions of the Human Resource Department (e.g., managing the unemployment and worker’s compensation claims process). Serves as the coordinator for the employee safety committee.

This position requires in-person, onsite work.

Pay Range - $30.16 to $39.09 per hour

Targeted Hiring Range - $30.16 to $35.48 per hour


Daily Activities Include:
 
  1. Enters new employees, terminations, and maintenance of employee records in various systems including payroll/HRIS, dealer management system (DMS), tracking systems/reports, benefit providers (e.g., medical, dental, vision, 401(K), life insurance long-term disability, and voluntary benefits). Conducts periodic reviews of employee data in the various systems and ensures such data is accurate and up-to-date. Ensures appropriate authorization for all payroll-related changes is received before processing changes.
  2. Responsible for the creation of and maintenance of employee files. Scans and archives separated employee data and prepare for storage and records retention.
  3. Provides notification to others as appropriate for addition, changes, or deletion to various systems due to hires, separations, or changes in positions or departments. This includes access control (Sonitrol) for facilities, bullpen, alarm codes, and login access to various software programs.
  4. Prepares initial monthly Sales variable pay calculations for review. Ensures the information is balanced with the information to the information that is received from other departments and the systems used (i.e. Accounting, General Manager, and DMS). Enters the monthly Sales Pay Accrual after the calculation has been reviewed.
  5. Prepares all initial calculations of compensation of employees under standard pay plans, and working with the Accounting Department calculations for all employees under a Variable Compensation Plan and any current incentive programs for entry into the payroll systems (e.g. Sales Advisor, Technician Productivity, Lead Tech Bonus, or other special incentives). Calculates each employee’s variable PTO according to the hours taken and the current processes in place. All such calculations are to be done timely to provide sufficient time to be subjected to a secondary review/audit prior to payroll being processed.
  6. Prepares all payroll and benefits processing in an accurate manner for all payroll cycles (5th & 20th of each month), and any interim special payroll requests. Ensures that appropriate internal controls and audit processes are in place and utilized.
  7. Monitors 401(k) eligibility notices for enrollment, changes, and loan payments and ensures such are entered into payroll in a timely manner. Prepares 401k contributions and submits to the 401(k) provider each payroll. Contact current employees who are on the lost Participant report (returned mail) report for updated address information. Completes periodic reviews to ensure the accuracy of Participant data (e.g., addresses, contact information, etc.), and reports findings to the Human Resource Manager.
  8. Is responsible for the completion and accuracy of all payroll tax reporting (either in-house or outsourced). If outsourced, coordinates all tax programs, rates, and related information with the outside payroll tax provider, and audits all reports, payments, and related general ledger accounts.
  9. Reviews all completed payrolls and related reports and ensures appropriate calculation support is provided to employees with all checks/direct deposit receipts, and appropriate supporting documentation is filed/maintained in the Human Resource Department records.   
  10. Calculates and pays all wage attachments, garnishments, and child support orders according to state/federal requirements.
  11. Serves as a resource to employees and managers regarding current organizational policies and practices as well as legal requirements with respect to payroll processes and time cards, and basic personnel matters.
  12. Credits and reconciles employee charge accounts in the Dealer Management System (e.g. Dealertrack) after every payroll.
  13. Ensures that annual W-2, W-3,1094-C and 1095-C or other required forms are accurately prepared, distributed, and filed timely. If outsourced, reconcile the information prior to distribution/filing.
  14. Follows up with and assists benefit-eligible employees with online enrollment through the HRIS system for medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and supplemental benefit programs to ensure timely enrollment.  Process enrollment for employee benefits set up through the carriers and verify appropriated deductions through payroll. Administers COBRA program through a third-party administrator including notification and changes to enrollment through the benefit carriers.
  15. Reviews and audits employee benefit invoices/statements and related general ledger accounts monthly and processes payments according to due dates.
  16. Periodically audits the Paid Time Off (PTO) benefits accruals calculated by the payroll provider for accuracy and calculates the associated financial liability. Monitors employees’ PTO balances to ensure that the PTO requested is available when processing payroll.
  17. Participates in managing unemployment claims including responding to initial notices and initiating requests for relief of charges as appropriate. Notifies the Human Resource Manager of claims that are not resolved timely or need further attention. May attend unemployment hearings on behalf of the company as needed.
  18. Coordinates the employee safety committee meetings as the chairperson. Prepares minutes of the meetings. Participates in maintaining the first aid supplies to ensure that the first aid kits are appropriately stocked at each location. May assist Human Resource Manager in managing worker’s compensation claims including light-duty job offers and return to work authorization.
  19. Participates with the HR Manager in coordination of employee leave of absence (e.g. FMLA, Washington Paid Family & Medical Leave, or ADA accommodations) including verifying employee eligibility, providing required notification, tracking time taken, communication while on leave, and return to work documentation to ensure compliance. Also serves as a resource to employees and managers for questions on leave processes; both company practices and legal requirements.

Desired Skills/Experience/Knowledge:
  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED).
  • One to two years of payroll processing and benefits administration experience.
  • Previous accounting experience or college-level coursework preferred.
  • Knowledge of Human Resources practices.
  • Must be able to learn/use all software and programs provided by the dealership.
  • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Must have intermediate Excel skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work efficiently.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce accurate work within established timelines.
  • Ability to work independently, self-starter, energetic.
  • Ability to perform at high levels in a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the work performed.
